Role Title: Go Global Volunteer
Role Location: African Initiatives - Bristol
Role Hours: Mon-Sat day |
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Are you interested in global issues and what you can do to make the world a better place? Would you like to develop ways to engage your community on things that matter to you, or help develop young people's understanding of global issues? Go Global is a creative and innovative project working with schools, local communities and volunteers looking at global issues. It is a year long project working with 5 schools throughout the year and culminating with a day of global workshops at each school. Groups of students make their way around the "life-sized board game" through different workshops/experiences, each with authentic materials and props, and using specially designed "passports" to complete the game. Another part of the Go Global project are Community Activity Days, which are Free and open to everyone! By using the community environment as the base for a day of interactive learning, everyone in the community is welcome to come along, share their thoughts and join in with the fun activities! The Go Global day is a great way to engage the community and learn more about global issues in a creative and fun environment. African Initiatives needs volunteers to help with designing, planning and delivering workshops and activities at these events. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about global issues and ways to share these with communities in Bristol. We have now confirmed the dates for our final Go Global events, so if you are interested in getting involved please get in touch! Saturday 2nd October - Community Activity Day at St. Werburghs Community Centre, Horley Road, Bristol. Saturday 30th October - Community Activity Day at The Withywood Centre, Queens Road, Bristol. Wednesday 13th October & Tuesday 2nd November - Go Global School Days, Bristol. We also need volunteers to help distribute posters and flyers in and around Bristol. So if you can cover an area, perhaps where you live or work, please do get in touch!
